Abstract

Young appearance is identified by a society as an indicator of health and general attractiveness. Gravity forces, soft tissue atrophy and facial skeleton resorption are followed by age-related facial contour changes. These changes begin either in the lower third of the face or periorbital region. Understanding of causes of these changes, their manifestations and differentiation determine the most optimal procedure for correction. In our opinion, the purpose of rejuvenation surgery is complex topographic and anatomical changes of facial characteristics rather correction of local age-related manifestations or congenital conditions. This approach allows perceiving and assessing a person’s age as biologically younger that is not possible in local changes without consideration of the overall appearance.
