Abstract

Objective. To assess the efficacy and safety of botulinum toxin (onabotulinumtoxinA, Botox, Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company, Ireland) in a 10-year retrospective, as well as to describe the technique of injections, in particular, in the lower third of the face.

Material and methods. A cross-sectional retrospective analysis of medical records of 100 patients who received Botox injections for aesthetic indications between 2010 to 2020 was carried out. The techniques are described considering their use in different periods.

Results. The study included 100 participants (10 men, 90 women) who underwent 2010 corrections with Botox over 10-year period. We determined age-related features in requests for aesthetic correction and found stable increase in time intervals between Botox injections throughout the long-term period. Considering technique of injections in the lower third of the face, we determined the recommendations based on the data on efficacy and safety in patients over 10-year follow-up. An approach to aesthetic correction of orbicularis oris muscle, depressor septi nasi muscle, depressor anguli oris muscle, mentalis muscle, platysma and masseter muscle is described. The author's techniques «mesoneck» and «beauty neck» for complex face correction are presented.

Conclusion. Considering 10-year experience, the authors determined the recommendations for Botox injections in correction of the lower third of the face. These data can be used by cosmetologists in their daily practice.
