The article describes the development of methods of aesthetic surgery of the face in a long history. The evolution of clinical thought, approaches to the correction of age-related changes and techniques of key figures in aesthetic facial surgery are presented. The role and importance of Russian plastic surgeons and their achievements are reflected. Current problems in facial aesthetic surgery that require an optimal solution are given.
