Abstract

Objective. To analyze bullhorn surgery alone and as a part of complex facial rejuvenation for harmonizing aesthetic results.

Material and methods. We analyzed the outcomes of bullhorn surgery in 277 patients between 2012 and 2022. Of these, isolated bullhorn surgery was performed in 226 (81.6%) cases; 51 (18.4%) patients underwent bullhorn surgery as a part of complex facial rejuvenation. The follow-up period ranged from 3 months to 10 years.

Results. Isolated bullhorn surgery increases baseline age-related changes of the face, while complex facial rejuvenation including this procedure improves the shape of the upper lip and contributes to a full-fledged rejuvenation effect. These data were confirmed in comparison of standardized preoperative and postoperative photographs.

Conclusion. Bullhorn lip lift underlies anti-aging facial surgery as a whole.
