Abstract

Objective. To analyze modern surgical approaches for tuberous breast deformity.

Material and methods. We reviewed the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using the following keywords: tuberous breast, tuberous breast deformity, constricted breast, tubular breast, correction. Manual selection of articles was followed by exclusion of textbooks, correspondence between authors and experts, duplicate articles, non-English-language articles, as well as manuscripts devoted to isolated surgical treatment of male patients and patients with nuclear transsexualism.

Results. We found 124 articles in the Google Scholar and 91 manuscripts in the PubMed database. Final analysis included 40 articles. Considering literature data, we compiled all surgical approaches and algorithms for correction of tuberous breast deformity.

Conclusion. There are various available surgical treatments and their potential combinations. Critical assessment of each component of deformity taking into account modern classification systems is required to eliminate errors in choosing the procedure. Fatty tissue grafting potentially replaces traumatic flap-based techniques and improves treatment outcomes.
