Abstract

Objective. To describe the approach for choosing of surgical correction of various breast deformities using lipofilling for breast augmentation and shape improvement.

Material and methods. We analyzed the results of breast lipofilling for various deformities in 378 patients aged 21-59 years (mean 36±7) between 2010 and 2022. Lipofilling alone was performed in 205 (54.2%) cases, combination with mammoplasty — in 173 (45.8%) cases. The volume of injected adipose tissue ranged from 60 to 1100 ml into each gland. There were 40-610 ml distributed under the gland and 30-760 ml in subcutaneous layer. The follow-up period ranged from 3 months to 12 years.

Results. After 3-month follow-up, we observed breast augmentation and shape improvement as evidenced by comparison of preoperative and postoperative images, as well as retrospective analysis of medical histories and surgical protocols. Injection of more adipose tissue resulted earlier effect of augmentation and improving the shape (after 3 months). These effects persisted throughout the entire follow-up period. We developed an algorithm for analysis of breast deformity and criteria for choosing the correction method depending on breast deformation.

Conclusion. One should consider baseline breast deformation when performing lipofilling. If necessary, lipofilling can be combined with other types of mammoplasty to obtain the best aesthetic results.
