Abstract

Objective. To assess the accuracy of artificial intelligence in determining age before and after rejuvenation surgeries and to identify the most effective surgical techniques regarding rejuvenation effect.

Material and methods. The study was conducted between March 2024 and December 2024. We compared actual mean age of 132 patients with age predicted by artificial intelligence before and after periorbital rejuvenation. Patients were divided into four groups depending on procedure: isolated endoscopic forehead and brow lift, combination with upper or lower blepharoplasty and circular blepharoplasty. Analysis was conducted using the Face++ platform (China). The last one provides high accuracy and convenience in photograph-based age estimation. Appropriate data were used to evaluate rejuvenation effect after different combinations of surgical interventions.

Results. The Face++ platform allows for highly accurate determination of patient age before and after rejuvenation surgeries. Objective decrease in mean age was demonstrated (by 5 [95% CI 3; 6] years). The most significant rejuvenation effect was observed after combination of endoscopic lifting with upper or lower blepharoplasty.

Conclusion. Artificial intelligence technologies, such as the Face++ platform, opens up new opportunities for objective assessment of rejuvenation effect of periorbital surgeries.
