Abstract

Objective. To analyze the microtextured breast implant shells, their characteristics, effectiveness and safety, biocompatibility, impact on the risk of capsular contracture, as well as potential complications.

Material and methods. The PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, and eLibrary databases were screened using the keywords “microtextured breast implant shells”. After reading the abstracts, the authors studied full-text Russian- and English-language articles between 2010 and May 2025. The study included literature data over the past 15 years, as well as results of clinical studies and meta-analyses devoted to microtextured implants.

Results. Microtextured breast implant shells demonstrate advantages in reducing the incidence of capsular contracture and ensuring breast shape stability.

Conclusion. Microtextured shells combine a lower risk of capsular contracture and minimal association with BIA-ALCL. This makes them optimal for most clinical scenarios.
