Abstract

Objective. To achieve the expert consensus regarding guidelines for VASER ultrasonic liposuction system.

Material and methods. The subject of the study was VASERlipo technology for high-precision liposuction, body sculpting and lipofilling. According to the modified Delphi method, nine experts (plastic surgeons with extensive clinical experience in VASER device from Russia and Kazakhstan) created clinical guidelines for VASER in plastic surgery. This process consisted of four consecutive stages. Questionnaire design and data processing were carried out by two moderators.

Results. The authors presented 58 baseline statements regarding device settings, preoperative period, physician convenience, rehabilitation specifics, side effects and complications, surgical techniques, and optimal results. Forty-two basic statements were approved, and 12 positions was revised. One position was added, one position was divided into two ones, and four positions were excluded.

Conclusion. Recommendations for device-based liposuction are an integral component ensuring safety and effectiveness of this technology. The developed recommendations for VASERlipo device will enable wider implementation of this method into clinical practice.
